“There is no progress without change,” says Professor Paulo Campos from the Zootechnics Department at the Federal University of Viçosa and a lecturer at the 5th Livestock Farming Congress. He explains that the event will be a unique opportunity for producers, technicians and academics to share experiences, knowledge and, thus, act at the forefront of technological development applied to animal production systems. “In this context, the event opens space for technological strategies developed in public and private research centers to reach the most important link in the production chain, which is the rural producer”, he adds.
Precision nutrition consists of using information and technologies (mathematical models, software, equipment) for formulating diets and providing dietary nutrients in exact quality and quantity to the physiological state and the maintenance and production requirements of each individual, explains Campos . “In other words, it consists of hitting the spotlight on the relationship between the supply of nutrients (diet) and the nutritional requirement of each animal. The use of this technology results in the improvement of the feed efficiency and the productive performance of the animals, in the lesser use of raw materials and in the reduction of the excretion of nutrients in the environment ”.
He says that through a multidisciplinary and multi-institutional team of researchers, especially in collaboration with Prof. Luciano Hauschild (Unesp / FCAV), is developing works with two main objectives: the assessment of the effects of environmental challenges (heat stress and health challenges) on the physiology of swine; and the development of automated technologies for pig nutrition submitted to the challenge conditions mentioned above. “Specifically in the area of ??precision nutrition for pigs in challenging conditions, research began in 2015, and we have plans to carry out scientific experiments, validate and implement results and technologies for the next five years”.
From the perspective of precision feeding as a technological tool for formulating diets in real time adjusted to the physiological state and to the maintenance and production requirements of each individual, Campos states that the use of human resources and technologies for storage and analysis of high data complexity, volume and constant flow will be increasingly necessary. “For example, in our work, the nutritional requirement of animals is estimated in real time using a mathematical model composed of an empirical and a mechanistic component. The empirical component, based on information collected in real time, estimates the consumption and weight of each individual for the next day. The mechanist, based on estimates of consumption and weight and the use of a factorial equation, estimates the ideal level of nutrients to be provided in the daily diet for each individual. In addition, mathematical models and integrated systems, in which equipment provides real-time information on food consumption and live weight of animals, will be increasingly used for decision-making and formulation of diets in an automated and real-time manner ”, he details. the speaker.
Lecture
During the 5th Livestock Farming Congress, the professor will discuss Precision Nutrition and the Use of Intelligent Tools. “At first, it will be analyzed how feeding systems (conventional by phases vs. daily individual), room temperature and health challenges affect the metabolism of nutrients and the nutritional requirements of pigs. Then, the objective will be to address the use of technological strategies (eg, precision nutrition) for the formulation of diets adjusted to the physiological state and to the requirements of keeping and producing pigs ”, concludes Campos.
Open for registrations
The animal production market has undergone constant changes in addition to the implementation of new technologies. That is why AveSui 2020 brings in its technical program many new features in the 2020 edition. In addition to the 5th Livestock Farming Congress s: artificial intelligence in favor of animal production, the event brings panels as methods of elimination (euthanasia) birds and pigs; production of free and antibioic free animals; meat processing and food security and the Biomass and Bioenergy Workshop. Another novelty is the panel open to the public on unique health.
The first batch of registrations for discounted technical-scientific programming is now available and registration can be done through the link: https://www.avesui.com/credenciamento
