Questionnaires for Who's Who 2018 Award have already started

Cooperatives will receive questionnaires and information requests that will serve as the basis for the rankings of ten categories. The award ceremony will be held on June 15 in Florianópolis (SC)

Questionnaires for Who's Who 2018 Award have already started

.The data collection with Brazilian cooperatives to define the winners of 2018 edition of the Who’s Who Award: Biggest and Best Brazilian Cooperatives of Poultry and Swine started on March 26, last week. The evaluators will contact the cooperatives to send the questionnaires, accompanied by the request for additional information. This year, the total number of categories grows from four to ten, with the inclusion of awards for Best Management, Best Technician / Technical Assistance, Innovation, Operational Management, Cooperative Women and Retail, in addition to the existing Economic-Financial Performance, Environmental Responsibility, Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development.

Plasson presents the Who’s Who 2018 Award, which has the Organization of Brazilian Cooperatives (OCB) as patronal support. Created by the Avicultura Industrial and Suinocultura Industrial magazines, Gessulli Agribusiness publications, the award seeks to highlight the important role played by cooperatives in the development of agribusiness in the country, as well as social improvement and preservation of the environment, highlighting actions and central actors in this area, like the cooperatives and technicians that make their production structure.

The Who’s Who 2018 Award will be held on June 15 in Florianópolis (SC), in a special ceremony, only for guests and supporters, with the presence of the main leaders, technicians, executives and professionals related to the cooperatives producing poultry and swine from Brazil, accompanied by the participation of media partnerships in its dissemination. The award will be presented by Marcos Fava Neves, founder of Markestrat, a project and research organization responsible for collecting data and preparing rankings for each category of the award. Fava Neves is an agronomist trained by Esalq-USP, one of the founders of PENSA-USP. Doctor of Business Administration from the FEA / USP, with specialization in the Netherlands, was also visiting professor of Purdue University in the United States, being expert in Planning and Strategic Management in Market Oriented Companies.

Categories of Who’s Who

Economic-financial

The economic growth of a cooperative results in the generation of income for its cooperative, besides moving the whole economy of the region where it is installed. The category seeks to evaluate the economic and management performance of participating cooperatives based on their financial results, highlighting some aspects of their management model.

Social

Cooperatives play an important social role by providing conditions for families to stay in the field with income and dignity. The financial return given at the end of each year from the so-called “leftovers” is a good example of this. The category seeks to evaluate the social and economic impact on the life of the cooperative, as well as the adoption of managerial practices focused on the current social demands.

Environmental

The preservation of the environment and the adoption of environmentally sustainable practices are fundamental for the continued development of agribusiness in the country. This category aims to measure compliance with legal preservation requirements, identifying actions and measures implemented by cooperatives to minimize any impacts caused by the production process.

Sustainable development

The concept of sustainability involves a tripod formed by the economic, environmental and social areas. It is only possible to be truly sustainable accompanied by economic development, environmental preservation and social improvements. This category is the result of an average of the indexes obtained by cooperatives in the economic, financial, social and environmental spheres.

Technician / Technical Assistance

The role of the field technician is fundamental for the diffusion of new knowledge and technologies with the producers, always aiming for new productivity gains. This category seeks to recognize the effort of this professional through the technical results obtained in the farms served by him, in addition to evaluating his training and efficiency in the function.

Best Management

The great engine of the pig and poultry production systems are the producers, who are responsible for supplying a whole structure assembled to bring quality food from the countryside to the city. The dedication, the commitment and the incessant search for new levels of production are what we intend to recognize in this category, mainly from the evaluation of the zootechnical indexes of the members.

Innovation

Leaps of efficiency and productivity in the agribusiness are results of the incorporation of technological innovations to the productive process. With this, the category seeks to recognize initiatives of innovative projects implemented by the cooperatives that have resulted in the improvement of one or several stages of its production with a positive impact for its members.

Operational Management (Field)

Efficient management is essential for the pig and poultry production systems to reach the desired goals with lower cost and higher profitability. This category aims to highlight the role of the professionals who work in the role of manager, evaluating their performance in managing productive processes and people, as well as field results until the animals arrive in the refrigerator.

Cooperative Woman

The properties that integrate the cooperative productive system have in the woman a central figure. Pillar of support of the family in the field, she plays the role of mother, housewife and help in the work routine of the farms, maintaining firm the family union. This category wants to recognize this dedication and commitment of the woman, emphasizing the social role that she plays.

Retail

Appropriate ways to present the product at the points of sales, brand positioning and development of innovative packaging are among the strategies to conquer the consumer. The objective of this category is to highlight the commercial and marketing initiatives of cooperatives with retailers in order to leverage sales of their products.
